Online casino Norway: the best spillsider for Norwegians

What does «casino på nett» mean?

“Casino på nett” means online casino, and so does “nettcasino”. Both refer to the same category. If you are reading in English and moving between Norwegian names and descriptions, online casino is the translation to keep in mind for either expression.

Then there is “spillsider”, which means gambling sites. That is the wording used for the sites themselves. In English, the board is a collection of 30 gambling sites; in Norwegian, those are 30 spillsider. The term gives you the connection between the Norwegian wording and the English description.

“beste casino på nett” means best online casino. It takes the online-casino expression and adds “best”, so the full phrase translates directly. “casino på nett”, “nettcasino” and “beste casino på nett” are therefore easy to follow together: the first two mean online casino, while the third means best online casino.

The 30 sites on the board accept Norwegian players and are licensed in Malta (MGA), Estonia (EMTA), Anjouan, Kahnawake or Tobique.

How do you pay from Norway?

Revolut, Instant Banking and Jeton are the payment options to look for when choosing a casino from these 30. Norwegian bank cards are often declined at gambling sites, so card acceptance is not the most useful starting point. Revolut or Instant Banking works at 20 of the 30, while Jeton works at 21 of the 30.

That puts Jeton slightly ahead on coverage, though the difference is only one casino.

The account currency is another part of that choice. NOK accounts are available at 17 of the 30 casinos. If you want an account in Norwegian kroner, those 17 are the relevant group to look at. Minimum deposits sit at amounts like NOK 200 (€20). Keep the account currency and the minimum deposit alongside the payment method: they answer different parts of the same practical question about getting money into the account.

Vipps and PayPal are not accepted by any of the 30 casinos. Neither belongs on the shortlist as a way to deposit at these sites.

What bonus can you expect?

Most sites double the first deposit with a 100 % bonus. SlotOwl and Quickz both offer 100 % up to €500, while Rivo, Smash and TenBet offer 200 % up to €500, with wagering on the bonus only. So there are two things to separate straight away: the percentage added to your deposit and the maximum bonus you can receive.

The €500 ceiling is the same across those five offers, but the percentage is not. A 100 % offer matches the first deposit; a 200 % offer adds twice the deposit amount, up to that ceiling. Rivo, Smash and TenBet therefore reach the same maximum bonus with a smaller deposit than SlotOwl and Quickz. The larger percentage does not mean a larger maximum here.

Then there is the wagering. Requirements range from 10x to 50x, and that number deserves as much attention as the headline percentage. It tells you how many times the amount covered by the requirement must be wagered. For Rivo, Smash and TenBet, that amount is the bonus only, rather than the deposit and bonus combined. The percentage tells you what is added; the wagering tells you what play is required.

Winsly takes a different approach, offering up to 7,000 free spins with no wagering on winnings. That is a free-spin offer rather than another deposit-match percentage, and the important detail is specifically the winnings: they carry no wagering requirement.

Which sites pay out fastest?

Instant Banking withdrawals at the Hundise sites usually arrive within minutes. For the stated withdrawal times, Qbet, 30bet and 55bet are at 24 hours, SlotOwl, Reblz and Winsly at 48 hours, and the others at up to 72 hours.

I always test the cashier before I care about the bonus. Getting money out is the part I want to look at first, so those withdrawal times matter more to me than a bonus headline. Within minutes is what catches my attention here, particularly if I am comparing it with a stated wait of 24, 48 or up to 72 hours.

Then I would put Qbet, 30bet and 55bet together when comparing the stated times. All three give the same 24-hour figure, so there is no reason to put one ahead of the other on that number alone. The same goes for SlotOwl, Reblz and Winsly: their stated 48 hours puts them together in the next group.

Casino and sports betting on one account

25 of the 30 casinos have a sportsbook on the same account, so casino games and sports betting sit together at most of the options in this comparison.

Then there is the sports bonus, and Quickz gives us a concrete offer to look at. Its sports bonus is 100 % up to €500, with 6x wagering and minimum odds of 1.50. Those figures belong together when comparing the offer: the percentage, the maximum bonus, the wagering requirement and the minimum odds. The €500 headline is one part of it; the 6x wagering and 1.50 minimum odds are also part of the terms.

For the sportsbook itself, live odds, cash out and bet builder are available at many of these sites. So the comparison is about both having sports betting alongside the casino and the betting features offered there, rather than just the bonus amount.

Do you pay tax on winnings in Norway?

Winnings from sites licensed in the EEA are tax-free in Norway. That includes sites licensed in Malta and Estonia, so both fall on the tax-free side of the distinction.

For sites licensed outside the EEA, winnings above NOK 10,000 are taxable. The licence location is therefore the starting point: an EEA licence puts the winnings in the tax-free category, while a licence outside the EEA brings the NOK 10,000 threshold into the picture.
